  • Faerie Tales & Other Stories released

Posted on August 18th, 2010 PurpleRhapsody No comments

    Hi,

As this post title says… my new album, Faerie Tales & Other Stories, is now released.

faerietales300 Go to the albums page (http://purplerhapsody.co.uk/albums.html) and listen to all 15 tracks if you want. And, if you like it you can even buy the CD!

In a couple of weeks the album will also be available from iTunes, Amazon MP3, CD Baby, etc but they need time to add it to their databases. I’ve asked them to give it a release date of September 1st so I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for then.

So… I really hope you enjoy the album – please come back and comment to let me know what you think.

    Cheers!

    Terry.

  • Transition Period – Arrggghhh!

Posted on August 12th, 2010 PurpleRhapsody No comments

Well, Faerie Tales & Other Stories is going in the post tomorrow to be replicated ready for distribution… and I’m currently in the middle of backing up 17.8GB of files (every file related to the album – including every audio track, MIDI track, mixed version, and mastered version… it’s my curse for recording live piano, guitar, bass, etc that the files are so large – if I just used virtual instruments for everything the total would probably less than 2GB.

So… while I’m doing all this preparation for the release, backing up all my files, and generally doing a bit of spring cleaning on my music folders on the hard drive… what do you think I actually want to be doing…?

The answer, of course, is that I want to be creating more music for the next album after FT&OS comes out. How contrary am I…?

A little bit of news about my preliminary thoughts on the next album…. it will probably be solo piano because both myself and my wife really enjoy listening to solo piano music when relaxing. It will be a challenge because a whole hour of solo piano music has to be varied enough to hold interest – but with the piano being such a versatile instrument I’m hoping it won’t be too difficult.

Anyway… I’m getting ahead of myself! Faerie Tales & Other Stories should hopefully be available by the beginning of September – it isn’t solo piano but it’s still marvellous…! Really, honestly… not just in my opinion but also according to my Dad :)

    Cheers,

    Terry.

  • Planet Rock Radio - about to be Purple-ised

Posted on October 5th, 2009 PurpleRhapsody No comments

Well.. maybe the title of this blog entry is a bit premature…

    Hmm.. well… very premature…..

I’ve just sent off a copy of Endless Lives to Rick Wakeman at Planet Rock Radio, he has a great Saturday morning show that plays some great music.

A friend recently told me…”PMA!! PMA!!” and unless this is some new abbreviation for some female ‘condition’ I think she meant Positive Mental Attitude. So it’s in that spirit that I titled this blog.

Anyway… please think positive thoughts for me and my music as it wings it’s way to Planet Rock and hopefully into the hands of Rick… and with even more hope into his CD player!

    Cheers,

    Terry.

  • Digital Download for Endless Lives

Posted on September 29th, 2009 PurpleRhapsody No comments

    Hi,

Just a quick update to let you know that you can now download Endless Lives from CDBaby. $7.49 for the whole album can’t be bad, can it? ;-)

CDBaby will be sorting out the whole digital distribution for the album so it will be available on iTunes, Amazon, Napster, etc in the next few weeks too.

    Cheers,

    Terry.

  • Thanks… and an update

Posted on September 14th, 2009 PurpleRhapsody No comments

    Hi,

First off, thanks to everyone that has listened to my new album. I really do appreciate the time you’ve taken to listen to my music!

I haven’t had many comments - positive or negative - and I’m on a continuing quest to improve my music so please please please can I ask you to spend another 30 seconds of your time letting me know what you thought, whether good or bad?

And a quick update - I’ve just packaged up the CDs to be sent off to CD Baby so they can be processed for iTunes, Amazon MP3, Napster, etc so hopefully within a couple of weeks (fingers crossed!) the digital distribution side will be completed too.

    Thanks again,

    Terry.

Just a short note to let you know that activities are proceeding to get the next Purple Rhapsody album available.

Endless Lives is now registered at CD Baby and the master disc has been sent to the Duplication Centre for copies to be made.

A couple of tracks from Endless Lives are available to listen to on the Purple Rhapsody MySpace page with more to follow soon.

    Cheers,

    Terry.

  • Music Publishing - Wish me luck!

Posted on March 30th, 2008 PurpleRhapsody No comments

Today I got together 5 tracks from the 2 abums I’ve been working on recently and packaged them up to send them off to some music publishers. I’m hoping to succeed with 3 steps:

    1. They’ll actually listen to the music
    2. They’ll like it and so will want to add me to their library
    3. Other people like it and decide to license it for films, TV, and other media

If I get step 1 completed I’ll be happy… step 2 and I’ll be over the moon… and with all the confidence and fate-tempting attitude in the world when step 3 happens my life’s ambitions will be complete (so I’ll need to dream up some others).

The companies I’ve sent my material off to are NorthStar Music, Bucks Music, Boom! Music, and Rhythm & Muse.

Keep your fingers crossed for me… please?

  • Transient Emotions on iTunes

    Hi,

Got some good news today from CD Baby (my distributors)…. Transient Emotions is now available worldwide to buy on iTunes :-D !

As you can probably tell… I’m well chuffed!

For those of you that use other download sites I’m expecting the CD to be available from Sony Connect, Napster, Rhapsody, and MSN Music (to name but a few) in the near future.

The link is in the ‘Links’ section on the left (where else would it be…?) if you want to have a look.

    Cheers,
    Terry.

  • CD Baby

    Hi,

Just a quick update to the blog to say….

Transient Emotions is now available from CD Baby - the link is on the left of the page - so it’ll probably be more cost effective for anyone in the USA to buy it from their rather than anywhere else.
